A Little About Me

I’ve been a car nut for as long as I can remember and a Mercedes fan for some time now.  My driver Mercedes is a 1994 C220 that has had the engine rebuilt, all new suspension rubber, shocks, steering etc. renewed within the last year. I also upgraded the original interior to that from a C43, and added the brakes and wheels from a C36. It drives and handles better than new even though it has a high-mileage badge. I absolutely love the car, having put all but 24,000 of its 216,000 miles on it.

I’ve been involved in various levels of motorsport from go-karting to Indy Car (when it was CART), the Formula Atlantic series, the ill-fated FranAm series and more recently Formula Renault in Europe. The Indy Car stuff was with a small team Ross Bentley was driver. We entered only one race the first year and built up to running a fairly complete season in the last year. I volunteered my services so it wasn’t full time but it was a blast. After that was mostly promotional and management type stuff through my advertising business.

My latest Mercedes, acquired a few weeks ago, is a 1967 250SE Coupe that is in pretty good shape but will need some restoration work. I’m planning on posting the various steps and what I learn and hope to get some feedback and input here along the way. Before buying the car I came across a lot of good resources and started posting them to the blog along with links to a few automotive businesses that various friends are running and I’ve posted a couple of the things that I’ve attended to so far.
